- Generic Lipitor?

- Generic Lipitor blocks the production of cholesterol (a
type of fat) in the body.
-
Atorvastatin
- Generic Lipitor is used to reduce the amounts of LDL (bad)
cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglycerides (another type
of fat), and apolipoprotein B (a protein needed to make cholesterol)
in your blood. Atorvastatin - Generic Lipitor is also used
to increase the level of HDL (good) cholesterol in your blood.
These actions are important in reducing the risk of hardening
of the arteries, which can lead to heart attacks, stroke,
and peripheral vascular disease.
-
Atorvastatin
- Generic Lipitor may also be used for purposes other than
those listed in this medication guide.
Drug Uses
Lipitor -
Atorvastatin is used with diet changes (restriction of cholesterol
and fat intake) to reduce the amount of cholesterol and certain
fatty substances in your blood. Accumulation of cholesterol and
fats along the walls of your arteries (a process known as atherosclerosis)
decreases blood flow and, therefore, the oxygen supply to your
heart, brain, and other parts of your body. Lowering your blood
level of cholesterol and fats may help to prevent heart disease,
angina (Chest pain), strokes, and heart attacks.
