How
Taken

- Escitalopram comes as a tablet and a liquid taken it orally.
It is usually taken once daily and may be taken with or without

Before taking

or special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the

not be taken during treatment with citalopram (Celexa). Also,

FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known whether

talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant
during treatment. Lexapro - Escitalopram passes into breast
milk and may affect a nursing infant. Do not take Lexapro
- Escitalopram without first talking to your doctor if you are
breast-feeding a baby.
Missed
Dose
Take the missed
dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for
the next regularly scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take
the next one as directed. Do not take a double dose of this medication
unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

Side Effects

-headache, tremor, nervousness, or anxiety;
-nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, or changes in appetite or weight;
-sleepiness or insomnia; or
-decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm.
Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk
to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that
is especially bothersome.
Precautions
1 Tell
the doctor if there are any allergies that you have especially
the ones to medicines (Lexarpo, Citalopram).
2 Use the dose prescribed by your doctor and do not exceed
it.
3 Do not discontinue taking Lexarpo until your doctor tells
you to do so, he/she may advise you to do it gradually.
4 It may take some weeks (2-4) before Lexarpo will actually
start working.
5 The cases of the use of this medicine by children haven’t
been studied properly; they demand more investigation to find
out if Lexarpo is safe and effective enough for children.
6 Go on taking the medicine even if you feel better until
your doctor tells you so.
7 Inform the specialists before having any kind of surgery
about the medicine you are taking.
8 The doctor should know if you have any specific health
conditions, in particular the following:
Glaucoma
Suicidal thoughts
Drug/alcohol addiction (or if have ever had)
Convulsions/epilepsy
Kidney/blood clotting/heart/liver/mental health problems
Mania
Diabetes
If you are going through electroconvulsive therapy
Additional control may be needed in cases mentioned above.
9 Do not do any dangerous tasks until you know how your
body reacts to the medicine.
10 Inform your doctor if you are taking any medications
at the moment or you are going to take some. Attention should
be paid to:

Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors(if have ever been used)
Blood-thinning medications
Sumatriptan
Linezolid
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
11 Do not drink alcohol beverages as they may aggravate
side effects. Avoid heat and dehydration. Do not overeat and try
to eat simple food more containing plenty of fibre.
12 Tell the doctor if you are already pregnant or you are
going to have a baby. Lexarpo gets into breast milk, that’s
why it can not be used during lactation period.
13 The doctor should know if you are still under 18 y.o.
14 Visit your doctor regularly to let him control your
progress.
15 In case of feeling drowsy try not to make jerky movements,
sit down and get up slowly.
16 Do not share your medicine with anybody else.
